Dining out in Lanark
Lanark has many inns and pubs eager to welcome the visitor, more that you might expect to find in a town of its size, population around 9,000. More in fact than you would expect a town of Lanark’s size to be able to economically sustain. But when one notes that for over a thousand years the Royal Burgh of Lanark has been the archetypal Scottish Market Town and serves a rural population in excess of 70,000, its abundance of watering holes is understandable!

So also is the large number of cafes, sandwich bars and fast food providers dotted throughout the town; but don’t fall into the trap of thinking that all Lanark can provide for its visitors is a quick snack and something to wash it down with.

Lanark is famed for its large number of top class dining establishments. On the fringes of the town, we can boast the excellent cuisine on offer at the Cartland Bridge Hotel; the New Lanark Mill Hotel; the Inn on the Loch; not forgetting top of the range pub grub available in the Crown Tavern; the Horse & Jockey; Wetherspoons; and our other local hostelries.
