Lanark Events - Lanimer Week
"Lanimer Ball"The principal social event of Lanimer Week, held on the Tuesday night and attended by the Lanimer Queen, who is escorted by the Lord Cornet to what is usually that young lady's first ever adult social event. The Ball is a very popular occasion and tickets for it are invariably scarce.
"Wednesday Ride-out" A relatively recent Lanark tradition a mere 30 odd years old. Several hundred riders set out from Lanark Cross and follow the traditional route of the Riding of the Marches, with a comfort stop at New Lanark where the Loving Cup Ceremony is enacted. Riders then return via Braxfield Estate, Castlebank Park and the town's Castlegate to Lanark Cross.
